To Abel Damina: Unbelief Alone?

Damina on stage exuding a rare edition of protestant pride with his characteristic self-adulating frenzy...

Preamble:

Recently a Faithful called my attention to Mr. Abel Damina's bold affirmation about faith and sin.

It is simply a further development of the Protestant heresy of "once saved always saved" which he repackages under the coinage "saved, sanctified, perfected forever". We have brought his false doctrines under the spotlight of integral Christian Doctrine here, here, here, here, here, and here

The expression of his fundamental protestant error that prompted this is his affirmation that:

No one goes to hell because of sin; people go to hell because of unbelief.”

He teaches that:

  • Christ has already forgiven all sins—past, present, and future—for all people.
  • Therefore, sin is no longer the issue between man and God.
  • The only sin that condemns a person is not believing in Christ (unbelief).
  • Once you "accept Christ," even future sins cannot condemn you.

This is a direct denial of mortal sin, repentance, and the necessity of grace and good works. He is conscious of directly opposing Catholic teaching, and he does it with a rare edition of protestant pride.

For this entry, we opted for something poetic with the title: To Abel Damina:  Unbelief Alone?

It goes thus:

To Abel Damina: Unbelief Alone?

1.

Not only those who scoff are lost—

But those who twist the truth as well.

You mock the Church, reject her laws—

Beware, false guide: your steps near hell.

cf. Galatians 1:8–9 – “If anyone preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached, let him be anathema.”

cf. 2 Peter 2:1 – “There shall be among you lying teachers who shall bring in sects of perdition...”

cf. Council of Trent, Sess. VII, Can. 13 – on obedience to Church rites and laws.

2.

The Cross you preach is cut in half,

The Lamb you name is not the same.

You scorn the Bride, the Priest, the Mass

Yet dare to speak in Jesus' name.

cf. Hebrews 13:10 – “We have an altar...”

cf. Malachi 1:11 – “In every place there is offered... a clean oblation.”

cf. St. Ignatius of Antioch (Letter to the Smyrnaeans, ch. 8) – “Wherever the bishop appears, let the people be there; just as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.”

3.

The drunkard, liar, thief, and proud,

The impure soul, the man unchaste,

The heart that loves the world too loud—

Shall not before the throne be placed.

cf. 1 Corinthians 6:9–10 – “Do not err: neither fornicators... nor drunkards... shall possess the kingdom of God.”

cf. Galatians 5:19–21 – “They who do such things shall not obtain the kingdom of God.”

cf. Revelation 21:8 – “The fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable... shall have their portion in the pool burning with fire and brimstone.”

4.

Protestant creed is unbelief

It robs the soul, it blinds the sight.

Repent, O man, while time is brief:

Return to Truth, the Faith, the Light.

cf. Pope Pius IX, Syllabus of Errors (1864), Prop. 18 – “Protestantism is not just a different form of the same Christian religion; it is a deviation from the truth.”

cf. John 8:12 – “I am the light of the world... he that followeth Me walketh not in darkness.”

cf. Ephesians 4:5 – “One Lord, one faith, one baptism.”

5.

That Truth, that Light, that saving Faith

Are found in Christ’s one holy Fold

The Church you spurn, yet must obey

The Catholic Ark, the saints of old.

cf. Matthew 16:18 – “Upon this rock I will build My Church.”

cf. Extra Ecclesiam Nulla Salus – “Outside the Church there is no salvation” (defined infallibly by Boniface VIII, Unam Sanctam, 1302).

cf. Mystici Corporis Christi, Pius XII (1943) – “The Mystical Body of Christ and the Roman Catholic Church are one and the same."

Note:

  • Theme: Protestantism is not merely a “branch” of Christianity but a rebellion from the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.
  • Doctrine Highlighted: Heresy, schism, and moral sins are all damnable if unrepented.
  •  Warning: False teachers are doubly accountable (James 3:1); sincere repentance demands return not to Modernist Rome, but to the unchanging Catholic Faith preserved in the remnant Church which you are bound to seek with humble and contrite heart.

Wrapping up:

By teaching that sin cannot damn the soul, Damina:

  1. Denies the justice of God, who punishes unrepented mortal sin.
  2. Nullifies the need for Confession, penance, and sanctifying grace.
  3. Contradicts Sacred Scripture, Tradition, and all the saints.
  4. Preaches a false Christ—one who "saves" without conversion, repentance, or a holy life.

This error is a form of antinomianism, condemned repeatedly in Church history.

How pathetic! His is a habitual launching  into the deep trashcan of condemned heresies. He picks up one or as many at a time, repackages them and broadcast them on his stage with a characteristic self-adulating frenzy. And, how many are his enthusiasts! Blind leading the  blind.

To the those entrenched in Protestant unbelief despising integral Christian Doctrine as taught by the Catholic Church with Christ's own authority this words of the prophet Jeremias might be applied:

To whom shall I speak? and to whom shall I testify, that he may hear? behold, their ears are uncircumcised, and they cannot hear: behold the word of the Lord is become unto them a reproach: and they will not receive it. (Jeremias 6:10)

  2. Thank you, Padre, for enlightening us in the true words and meàning of Holy Writ. Besides, there couldn't have been a better rebuttal of Damina's grave error. He seems to take pride, and finds joy, a false one though, in teaching grave errors to his blind followers.
